The girls in green arrived at Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport shortly after midday (Thursday 4th August). It was just before 1 pm when squad members started to flood through the arrival doors.
The squad was greeted by thousands of incredibly proud Irish fans that had been waiting for hours before to secure the best vantage point to catch a glimpse of the team. An estimated 8,000 people showed up for the occasion showing just how proud the nation is of the girls in green and how monumental an achievement it has been to qualify and play in our first-ever Women’s World Cup.
Attention now shifts to the official homecoming which is due to take place later this evening (Friday 5th August) the team will be presented to the public in front of the GPO on O’Connell Street in Dublin at 6.30 pm. Get there early if you want a prime place to show your support for our gals in green because huge crowds are anticipated!
