Hugely inspirational English doom metal pioneers Paradise Lost follow Obituary at The Academy later in the month. British extreme metallers Cancer also pop over for a gig, this month, appearing at Whelan’s on September 30.

Back with her first album in 7 years, the catchily titled I Inside the Old Year Dying, PJ Harvey returns for a 2-night stand at the Olympia.
Dexys (September 25, Olympia Theatre, Dublin)
Never a shrinking violet, Kevin Rowland brings Dexys (formerly Dexys Midnight Runners) to the Olympia for a full top-to-bottom live rendition of their new album The Feminine Divine, but the set will include all the classics also.
