Ask Joan – Which Pubs Will Have Outdoor Facilities in Dublin

Any recommendations for the best pubs in Dublin City with seating since we are opening up again on Monday? AW

It is great that we will be able to go to a pub again from 7 June, and enjoy the atmosphere. Outdoor space is at a premium in Dublin city and as there are not a lot of places with good space, you may need to book in advance.

In the city centre some streets will be closed to traffic and eating and drinking will be allowed outside. The streets closed are South William Street, Drury Street, South Anne Street and Dame Court. The pavements on Merrion Row will be widened to allow pubs to put seating outside.

Pubs in these areas include Grogan’s, Pygmalion, Dakota, Peter’s Pub, The Globe, The Bailey, Davy Byrnes, The Duke, Keogh’s and Zozimus on Anne’s Lane.

O’Donoghues of Merrion Row fortunately have a courtyard and will be allowing walk-in business. They have been closed for 15 months and are looking forward to welcoming customers back. Foley’s is also located on Merrion Row.

On the North side of the city The Church on Mary Street has a lovely outdoor area and also has a good menu for snacks, light bites and meals. It is reopening from June 10, there will be a walk-in service up to 6pm; after that you have to book.

On Talbot Street, The Celt will also be opening on June 10 and will operate a walk-in service for their outdoor areas.

Ireland’s oldest Korean restaurant and bar on Parnell Street, Kim Chi Hop House will be opening their beer garden for dine-in reservations, book on [email protected].
