Travelodge Plus Hotel – a First For Dublin

The British hotel chain has announced the opening of a 393-room Travelodge Plus on Dublin’s Townsend Street.

The first Travelodge Plus 393-bedroom hotel will open in Dublin this month

The first Travelodge Plus opens in Dublin city centre, on Townsend Street this month. It will have 393 bedrooms over seven floors. The inventory will include 175 SuperRooms with a mix of twin, family, accessible and interconnecting rooms. 

Travelodge Plus will features spacious bedrooms on the 7th floor with a number of double height rooms with skyline views.

General Manager Appointed to Travelodge Plus

Stephan Ernest, General Manager

The hotel will be managed by Irish Hotel Group Tifco, and the General Manager will be Stephan Ernest. A Dutch native, Stephan moved to Dublin in 2006, after graduating in hotel and catering management. Stephan started his professional career as a Junior Duty Manager in The Burlington Hotel.  

In 2008 Stephan joined Tifco Hotel Group, initially in Crowne Plaza Hotel and Holiday Inn Express Dublin Airport. He left to open The Hendrick Hotel in Dublin’s Smithfield in 2018. Mr. Ernest now returns to the Tifco company as general manager of the first Travelodge Plus in Ireland. 

  

This hotel will be the single biggest budget hotel in the city for value conscious guests. The location in Dublin 2 is minutes from the key locations. The include the IFSC, Convention Centre, 3Arena, premier tourist attractions, Grafton and Henry Street shopping areas. 

Travelodge Plus joins the existing four other Travelodges in Dublin and will be the first Travelodge Plus outside the UK. The existing Travelodges are in Rathmines, Dublin Airport, Swords and Navan Road. The former Travelodge on Mercer Street, Dublin city centre became the boutique Arthaus Hotel in the latter half of 2021.

The Travelodge Plus will join newly opened neighbouring budget hotel Staycity Aparthotel on Mark Street. And the upcoming Staycity Aparthotel on Townsend Street. The hotels will add to the huge increase in budget accommodation in Dublin city this year. Travelodge UK are operators of over 500 hotel in the United Kingdom and five hotels in Spain.
