Peter Fergus, Hotel Manager at The Lodge at Ashford Castle said:

‘We are over the moon to be named the top Wedding Hotel at the Gay Travel Awards. The Lodge at Ashford is part of Red Carnation Hotels’ IDEA programme, which is an initiative committed to making each participating hotel an inclusive space for all regardless of race, belief, different abilities or sexuality. At the core of IDEA is the belief that a fully integrated and accepting workforce is good for business and great for our guests, ensuring that everyone is celebrated, and no one gets ‘left behind’ but rather, is part of our extended family. We would like to thank GayTravel for recognising our dedication to inclusion.”

GayTravel Chief Visionary Officer Steve Rohrlick said:

“For their exemplary LGBTQ inclusivity, along with their warm, welcoming staff, The Lodge at Ashford Castle takes the cake. On behalf of GayTravel and LGBTQ travellers worldwide, we heartily congratulate them for topping the ‘wedding’ category.”

Nestled on the banks of Lough Corrib in the romantic countryside of Co. Mayo, The Lodge at Ashford Castle is a magical place to say ‘I do’ to the one you love.

The beautiful Harbour Ballroom with its panoramic views of Lough Corrib and Kinlough Woods offers the perfect backdrop for any wedding, with a private bar and reception area.

Wedding Specialist, Cora Duggan and her team will be on hand to provide comfort and reassurance in the lead up to, and during your wedding day, allowing you to completely relax and soak up each memory with loved ones.

A spectacular menu using local produce and fresh, seasonal ingredients will be created by the hotel’s culinary team lead by Executive Head Chef, Jonathan Keane, with perfectly paired wine options chosen by The Lodge’s experienced sommelier.

Steeped in history, The Lodge at Ashford dates back to 1865 when it was originally built as the home of Ashford Castle’s Estate Manager during the Guinness family’s ownership of the Ashford Estate. The hotel includes 64 luxury guest rooms, with accommodation for up to 130 guests.
