Embark on the self-guided Irish Camino from Limerick to Killaloe and discover our little island’s most spectacular religious landmarks.
The pilgrimage is roughly 25 kilometers in length and takes around five hours to complete. It passes through a section of the Lough Derg Way and it can be accessed through the following trailheads:
Limerick City
Limerick City is located approximately 25km from Shannon Airport and 37km from Ennis. This trailhead is located at Arthur’s Quay in Limerick City Centre.
Clonlara
Clonlara is located on the R463, approximately 10km from Limerick City. This trailhead is located in the centre of the village.
Killaloe/Ballina
Killaloe/Ballina is located on the R463 and is 28km from Limerick City. This trailhead is located at the Riverside Car Park on the Killaloe side of the River Shannon and is situated close to the Tourist Information Office.
The pilgrimage passes through major landmarks of christianity, including Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Ardcloony Burial Ground and Saint Flannan’s Cathedral. It is advised that pilgrims wear appropriate walking shoes and bring waterproof clothing.
