There’s nothing like a bit of good food and feasting to make a good weekend even better. In fact, if you love all things culinary, there’s a lot happening in Kells, Co Meath over the weekend, and today as well.
The Samhain Festival of Food & Culture which started on Thursday, November 3, has a great line up of chefs and food writers and cookery demonstrations. It also has farm tours, farmers markets, cookery competition, meet the makers, children’s workshops and pub trails. Plus there’s a long table supper and of course plenty of food and drink tastings throughout the weekend.
So if you’re caught up with work and work related deadlines, fret not. You always have Saturday and Sunday to get your fill of food and culture.
We loved how diverse and rich the line up of events is. For example, you have Scoop – Irish Food Stories – on Saturday. At this event, you’ll have independent food and travel writer Ali Dunworth in conversation with the faces behind Ireland’s newest Irish food magazine, Scoop. Ali will chat to publisher Kristin Jensen and editor-in-chief Dee Laffan on their vision to curate this new biannual magazine. There’s also Dr Anna King (BA, MA, PhD), an author and creative non-fiction writer with a passion for the contemplative arts speaking on Sunday on Food, Mindfulness & Seasonal Wisdom.
But if you can’t wait till the weekend, and are getting off work early today, you may love the Samhain Literature Pub Crawl. (You will get to head to three incredible pubs in Kells. In each spot, you will receive a local drink, paired with food made from local ingredients, and be treated to a literary piece and plenty of laughs from three incredible special guests.)
So here’s where you can find all the details, and plan your Saturday and Sunday, and if time permits, you can start from today!.
