It seems there is a ‘day’ for everything now, and today is no different- it’s National Pizza Day. Or as we call it around here ‘Any excuse’!

In honour of this prestigious event, we look at four top pizza spots in Dublin.

Base Wood Fired Pizza

There are a lot of wood fire options around in recent years as ‘artisan-style’ pie has risen in popularity, but Base really is top of its game. Top marks also for an astonishing array of topping options.

To celebrate National Pizza Day it is offering 25% off all pies until Friday, 10th of February.

They are ‘based’ nearly everywhere now, from Castleknock to Stillorgan but they deliver too!

UNO Pizza

This cheeky little spot is very close to Travel2Ireland headquarters and is a favourite.

UNO create the very best traditional Neopolitan-style pizza and a big shout out to its focaccia-style garlic bread too. It’s sublime.

UNO do some cool pop-up events like ‘Bottomless Pizza and Prosecco’ evenings, tickets for which can be booked on its website – as well as serving in P.Macs in Dundrum.

Domino’s Pizza

Sometimes we are not in the humour for artisan and a straightforward pizza from a popular chain is the only thing to hit the spot.

Domino’s Pizza always has incredible value meal deals and the chain is nearly everywhere in Dublin, though Tallaght gets a special mention as a branch- located in the Square Shopping Centre was identified as the busiest of its 8,000 stores worldwide, apparently selling up to 200 pizzas an hour!

Toscana, Dame Street

This is a bit of a cheat as it’s more a mom-and-pop Italian restaurant than a pizzeria but the pizza is delicious and made from tomatoes grown in the owners’ own gardens in Wicklow.

On top of this, the servers will often burst into a rendition of ‘That’s Amore’ by Dean Martin. Too cute.

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, indeed!
