Five of Ireland’s Most Delicious Veggie Eateries

Glas, Dublin

Experience the authentic flavours of Ireland at this eco-conscious vegetarian and vegan restaurant. With a range of colourful dishes, Glas –meaning green in the Irish language– proves that plant-based meals can be just as exciting as any. Head to Chatham Street to discover these flavoursome veggie and vegan dishes, made using local and seasonal produce.

There’s something for everyone, with plenty of options from light bites to sharing plates and delightfully sweet desserts. Complete your experience with a beverage, as Glas offers a diverse selection of wines and other drinks.

Catalyst Coffee, Wicklow

Catalyst Coffee serves a fantastically varied selection of veggie and vegan bites on Bray’s bustling seafront. With an eco-conscious ethos, the cafe serves speciality coffee in a chic and contemporary environment.

This is the perfect spot to grab a veggie snack by the sea, with plenty of cakes to complement a hot beverage, and a food menu offering some unique and tasty options. You can indulge in a comforting bowl of porridge, some fresh veggie ‘sausage’ rolls, or a helping of sourdough toast topped with banana, peanut butter and a drizzle of caramel – and that’s only a taster of what’s on the menu.

Iyer’s Cafe, Cork

Iyer’s Cafe on Cork’s Pope Quay is changing the game, with a menu full of purely vegetarian South Indian dishes. The family-run cafe serves a selection of hot options, including light bites and traditional curries and utthappams. Each dish is well presented, packed with colour and flavour.

If you’re looking for something a little lighter, Iyer’s also serves a range of cakes and sweet treats to enjoy alongside a coffee or tea of your choice. From pistachio and rosewater to pomegranate and orange, there’s a cake for every sweet tooth. So whatever it is you’re after, Iyer’s offers plenty of options for all tastes.

The Gourmet Offensive, Galway

The Gourmet Offensive is Galway City’s answer to vegetarian street food, having started in 2005 with a stall at St. Nicholas’ Market before working its way up to its very own establishment on Mary Street. Serving Middle Eastern Food and specialising in falafel, the restaurant is the perfect spot to enjoy a tasty veggie dish.

Using fresh vegetables from local Galway farmers, the restaurant also serves a selection of vegan alternatives to classic street food and takeaway meals. Whether you’re after a falafel wrap, a veggie burger or a delicious serving of dahl, you’re guaranteed to find something to satisfy your cravings.

Sage, Belfast

Belfast’s Sage restaurant on Lisburn Road is every vegan’s dream. Enjoy a bite from the ethical, all-vegan menu, full of vibrant and delicious options catering to all preferences. From colourful salads to tofu bites and deceptively meaty burgers made from plant alternatives, there’s lots to choose from. For those looking for something a little less savoury, the restaurant’s cakes and desserts are ready to impress.

Sage is well and truly embracing the Christmas spirit this year, with its 2021 festive feasting event. The one night event will take place on 18 December from 7pm until 9pm, serving a three-course Christmas meal.
