For the bargain price of €199, you and up to five lucky companions (or unfortunate souls, depending on their stance on pig-led adventures) can experience the Fairy Pig Walk, a 45-minute VIP (Very Important Pig) experience where you get to walk Emilia the pig through a woodland trail.
Spoiler alert: Emilia steals the show, and you’re just there to assist with her daily routine of fabulousness.
Emilia the Juliana Pig
Ever wondered what it’s like to be besties with a tiny, four-legged diva who loves snacks and attention? Here’s your chance! Meet Emilia, the fabulous Juliana pig at the Burren Nature Sanctuary in Kinvara, Co. Galway. It’ll cost you just €199 to take her on a ‘fairy pig walk’. Here’s everything you need to know!
What’s on at the Fairy Pig Walk?
Meet Emilia – An 8-year-old, 20-inch-tall Juliana pig who is basically the pig version of a supermodel. She’s well-trained, knows her route like the back of her hoof, and thrives on admiration (and snacks).
Stroll Through the Fairy Woodland – Emilia will graciously allow you to accompany her through a magical woodland path. You can capture Instagram-worthy photos and videos of your VIP (Very Important Pig) moment—because if you don’t post about walking a pig, did it even happen?
Say Hi to Her Farmyard Friends – Before or after your pig promenade, you can mingle with Frank the Llama, Dolly the Alpaca, and some particularly cheeky goats. They might be jealous of Emilia’s celebrity status, but try not to pick favorites (Emilia insists she’s the best).
Grab a Treat – After all that hard work (watching Emilia walk), unwind at the on-site café, where you can sip barista coffee, enjoy fresh baked goodies, or treat yourself to a 99 ice cream cone. If Emilia were allowed in the café, she’d probably order everything.
Playground Fun – If you’re bringing kids, let them burn off energy at the playground, because let’s be honest, they probably don’t appreciate Emilia’s star power the way you do.
Picnic in the Sanctuary – Bring your own picnic if you’d like, but be prepared to take your waste home—because while Emilia loves food, she does not do littering.
The Important Details (Because Pigs Like to Plan Too)
The walk takes place at the Burren Nature Sanctuary in Kinvara, Co. Galway. It’s just a 30-minute drive from Galway or Shannon, or about 2 hours from Dublin. Taking the 350 bus from Galway gets you nearby, followed by a 15-20 minute walk (yes, you have to walk yourself before you can walk the pig).
The experience costs €199 for up to 6 people (worth every penny for a pig-led tour). You can add extra guests for €14 each (max 10 people, because Emilia prefers intimate gatherings).
The Fairy Pig Walk is available by appointment, and other dates may be possible on request—because Emilia is a busy pig, and she keeps a tight schedule.
