As we promised, we are back with two important events to look out for – especially as you start sorting out, and shopping for your Christmas gifts. Last week, we gave you a nifty little list of pop-ups, and now, we have two lovely events that might be just up your alley.

A lot of people want gifts that are sustainable and a Christmas that veers as near as possible to being a zero-waste celebration. And that is why, it may be worth checking out the Sustainable Christmas Fair.

The Sustainable Christmas Fair takes place on the 3rd of December at the Rediscovery Centre from 11am to 4pm. This Christmas experience will feature market stalls with sustainably made products focusing on reuse, quality and local production showcasing social enterprises, independent retailers and others, zero waste Christmas treats and demonstrations. Find your special sustainable, upcycled or ethically sourced gifts while supporting the environment and learn about the impact this also has on local communities.

There are lots of stalls to buy some distinct and gorgeous gifts and crafts. From the Three Sisters Craft, The Upcycle Movement, Ecomutt, Literary Lip Balms and more. Do check out some of these businesses online, and you will discover a treasure trove of ‘Oh-I-simply-want this-gifts’!

I was particularly attracted to the ‘Blankey Bears’. Created by the Three Sisters Craft, these are handmade from 100% wool. And the story goes that these cuddly bears were made because one day a lady came into The Three Sisters Craft Shop carrying an original Foxford Blanket that had covered her bed when she was a baby. She asked them if they could make cuddly bears out of her blanket so that she could hand on her treasured Foxford Blanket to each one of her grandchildren. At that moment Blankey Bear was born!

There will also be a stall by the FoodCloud which connects businesses that have surplus food with charities and community groups that need it. Always good to know more about something as nice and wonderful as this, isn’t it?

The second event that we think might interest you is the Gifted Fair at the RDS. It’s on from today and runs till December 4. This Contemporary Craft & Design Fair is the ultimate destination for anyone interested in craft, design, unique independent brands and artisan food producers. There are over 100 artisan food producers exhibiting – sorting out your Christmas entertaining with a wide variety of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan foods and a host of healthy ideas as well! It also feature over 400 designers, makers and independent retailers. Plus, there’s a sustainable edit – a selection of sustainable gift ideas, clean beauty companies as well as sustainably produced fashion and some incredible vintage clothing.
