Even with demand for tickets red hot, Dalkey Book Festival 2023 has upped the ante – announcing Hollywood A-Lister and burgeoning short story writer and novelist Tom Hanks and U2 legend Bono as headline acts.
Hanks will be in town to push his debut novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece and talk. Bono will talk about his life and memoir Surrender to Irish Times columnist Fintan O’Toole.
The festival already features such heavyweights as Sebastian Barry, Liz Nugent, Roddy Doyle, John Banville, Deirdre O’Kane and scientist Brian Cox.
The Dalkey Book Festival comes with great credentials. After all, renowned author Salman Rushdie has called it “the best little festival in the world.” It’s no wonder then that when the sales for tickets to Dalkey Book Festival 2023 (15-18 June) went live last Wednesday, their website crashed!
And that was BEFORE the headline acts were announced.
So this is just a timely reminder to try and grab your tickets if your heart is set on a serial date with books, authors and everything that comes with that package. The Dalkey Book Festival is known for celebrating literary talent in Ireland, hosting some of the world’s leading writers and thinkers since 2010. This year’s lineup of speakers and programme is as impressive as it has been over the years.
The speaker list contains authors, journalists, actors, physicists, comedians, broadcasters, scientists, academicians and more. That was a fairly long sentence, but we still had to add the word ‘more’! That’s just how impressive Dalkey Book Festival is, and should you want to look at the full lineup of speakers, here’s a handy link.
Also, be sure to cast your eyes on the programme of events and get everything sorted what you want to wear (oh yes, we know that’s important as well), which books you want to bring along to get signed, and who do you want to attend this fantastic festival with. You can also sort out your cool tote bags, for we hear they come in handy at the festival.
If you found our reminder timely and managed to get your hand on these golden tickets, thank us later! Or better still, tag us on your socials. Here’s hoping your date with the literary world this June goes well.
