Skerries Midsummer Festival returns May 31st to June 3rd, celebrating almost two millennia of strong historic and cultural associations with the surrounding seas, since St Patrick himself first landed and lived on one of Skerries five islands all the way back in 432AD.
The weekend is to include ‘oodles’ of outdoor fun at their South Strand Festival village, with paddleboard and kayak tasters with water-sport school Outdoor Dublin, swimming races, sailing displays and on-the-beach sports.
There will also be sand castle competitions, outdoor cinema movies, and live music featuring foot-stomping favourites, with the lineup available here. Themed music nights will also be on, with Saturday night being Mamma Mia Night, as well as a live Abba Tribute.
For the kids, there’ll be children’s rides, bouncy castles, and inflatable slides. You can get all-day tickets for the KidsZone for unlimited access to the tea cups. Disney carousel, sky diver ride, bungee trampoline, mega slide and toxic slide.
There’ll also be mobile vendors with an emphasis on street food, alongside a beachside tented festival village of vendors, craftspeople and family amusements which will be the hub for this cracking weekend, as well as the obligatory ice cream and chips by the sea!
The Skerries’ unique peninsula will allow patrons to enjoy incredible sunsets over the water to the east, and glorious sunrises over the islands to the west, making it a weekend packed full with activities and beautiful sights.
