Ireland’s first ‘Pups in the Park’ Festival in association with Leader Dog Food, will take place on the May bank holiday weekend, at Malahide Castle, Co. Dublin. There will be a busy two days of activities for dogs of all ages, and their owners.
Pups in the Park – Festival for Dogs
It is not just humans that need to socialise, but also pets, they too have been cooped up for a long time. The Main Arena will have a whole host of events for dog lovers, with fun-filled and high action line-up of dog displays and demonstrations. You can even meet dogs with jobs. The working dogs will include the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team, as well as working sheepdogs and Irish Guide Dogs.
Dogs and owners will be put through their paces in the Obedience Ring, with one of Ireland’s expert trainers. Let your dog show you how well they can do with basic commands, socialisation and much more. Maybe you will both learn some new fun tricks to impress your pals.
Hay You, Don’t Paws, will be an obstacle course for dogs. See how fast your dog can hop, skip and jump its way over hay bales. This will be a fun activity suitable for all dogs to try.
Everybody’s Favourite Vet
There will be a number of well-known dog lovers including everybody’s favourite vet, Pete Wedderburn. Dogtor Bob will also be at there along with Rob Walsh, the “Irish Dogfather”.
As part of its partnership with the DSPCA, ‘Pups in the Park’ are encouraging ticket purchasers to donate €2 to the charity when booking. The DSPCA Team will also be at the festival to lead people and their pooches in a series of Great Dog Walks. The perfect chance for some puppy chit-chat.
Come to the festival with some questions about your pup and you are sure to find the answers. There will be a number of people with huge experience in training and understanding pups. They will be more than delighted to answer your questions.
The festival will also have some great dining options for the humans including Griolladh and Los Chicanos. Festival goers can even indulge in some re-tail therapy in the exhibitor’s area. There will be more than 30 vendors showcasing the very latest in dog accessories, food, apparel, toys and more.
