HELL & BACK is Back

HELL & BACK, Ireland’s toughest mental and physical endurance challenge, is back after an almost 3-year hiatus (we all know why!). With many of us making way better friends with our sofas over the last while. Now is the time to get out there, get active, meet new people and set yourself a real challenge. All the while having a great time, all in the safety of the great outdoors.

As well as HELL & BACK being the country’s largest and most popular obstacle course adventure run, it is also home to the popular Ireland’s Fittest Family TV show. Everything takes place in Co. Wicklow, where event organiser Alive Outside is based.

For one weekend in June, the spectacular surrounds of Killruddery Estate in Bray are converted into an adventure playground. Moreover, it will be specifically designed and created by award-winning outdoor specialists to push your physical and mental boundaries to the limit.

Participants (or more aptly HellRaisers!) must complete a 8-13km trail route. It involves crossing rivers and lakes, climbing hills and mountains and crawling through bogs and swamps. The course combines a variety of man-made obstacles. And, with Killruddery’s famous natural terrain, encompassing magnificent views of Dublin Bay from the Little Sugar Loaf Mountain.

To survive the course, you must conquer all the elements thrown at you. Whether that is the gruelling natural environment or more than one hundred infamous man-made obstacles. Hurdles include the Water Jump, Splashdown Slide, Hell on Earth, Sniper Alley, Satan’s Pit, Ice Baths, 10 Foot Tessie, Devil’s Creek…and new for June 2022, Heartbreak Ridge!

“We are beyond excited that HELL & BACK is back this June” says Aidan Walsh, Director of Operations.  “Since our last event in October 2019 and throughout lockdown, we have been working on and developing new obstacles. And, so we are chomping at the bit to let Hell Raisers this June back onto, what is beyond doubt, the best course we have ever created!”

So, do you think you are up for the challenge?

HELL & BACK takes place on Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 June 2022.
