The girls are set to reunite after a ten year hiatus to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The Show Tour, named after their 2004 hit, is set to begin at Dublin’s 3Arena to a sold out crowd and will continue at the SSE Arena in Belfast on May 20th and 21st. Tickets for the May 21st gig in Belfast are still available. Fans can expect to hear their greatest hits such as “Sound of the Underground” (2002), “Love Machine” (2004), and “The Promise” (2008). This is the first time that the girls have performed in Ireland since 2013 and it is set to be an explosive night.
Girls Aloud were formed on the British/Irish reality show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 after successfully winning the competition. The group consisted of Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, and Kimberly Walsh. They claimed the UK Christmas number one for the same year with “Sound of the Underground” and quickly became a household name. Girls aloud obtained four number one hit singles and a number of top five hits throughout their time as one of the biggest girl groups in the UK and Ireland and ended up winning the BRIT Award for best single in 2009 with “The Promise.”
After completing a tour in 2013, the girls went on hiatus. Tragically in 2021, Sarah Harding passed away from cancer at the age of 39. The girls emphasized just how important Sarah was to the group and that the tour act as an homage to her.
The Show Tour starts in the 3Arena Dublin on May 17th and will continue the following day at the 3Arena. Both shows are sold out, but keep an eye out on the re-sale section of Ticketmaster for any available last minute tickets. Girls aloud will also be playing the SSE Arena in Belfast on May 20th and 21st. Doors open at 6:30pm.
