It’s hard to believe the August bank holiday is nearly upon us but after a rainy July, things can only get better! There are plenty of events taking place across the country, let’s take a glimpse at six various options:
Le Cheile Arts and Music Festival:
Celebrating its 20th year, the Le Cheile Arts and Music Festival in Oldcastle, Co. Meath promises to be the best one yet. Featuring fantastic home-grown talent like Ryan Sheridan and The Blizzards, the town will be in full festive mode all weekend. Held during the August Bank Holiday Weekend, this festival offers a diverse range of music events across local pubs and the Cinema Club. There’s also a lot of family-friendly activities taking place.
Waterford Spraoi International Street Arts Festival:
Waterford city will come alive with the Spraoi Arts festival, featuring three days of captivating street theatre and music. Families in the South-East are in for a treat, and the best part is that this fantastic weekend is entirely free!
Galway Races:
A highlight on the Summer Calendar, the Galway Races offer thrilling horse racing alongside fantastic displays of Irish style and entertainment. Music, craic, and banter are sure to accompany the excitement. Although the races are on all week, events culminate during the bank holiday weekend with the ‘Most Stylish’ competition kicking off on Friday, ‘The Weekender’ on Saturday and family favourite ‘Mad Hatters Family Fun Day’ on Sunday.
The Dan Paddy Andy Festival:
Located in Lyreacrompane, Co. Kerry, the Dan Paddy Andy Festival promises an authentic rural experience. Featuring a Ceilí, dog show, sheepdog trials, bog walk, and nightly dancing, it’s the epitome of Kerry charm!
Enniscorthy Rockin Food Festival:
Enniscorthy offers a delightful blend of music and food during this amazing festival. With an impressive lineup of chefs, a vibrant Artisan Food Market, and a fantastic selection of for free outdoor gigs, it’s an event not to be missed. Additionally, there will be food and drink workshops, events, and classes catering to all ages.
Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival:
Starting from Friday 4th and continuing until Friday 11th, the Birr Vintage Week boasts a diverse program of events. From the Vintage Festival Parade to the Antiques Fair, there’s something for everyone. This annual community arts festival in Birr, Co. Offaly, features professional, national, and international artists showcasing visual arts, theatre, music, street performances, workshops, and exhibitions, along with various community events.
