Christmas at Dublin Castle

Though many things have been cancelled this festive season the outdoor festival at Dublin Castle will be going ahead; it will be a magical event for two weeks from 8 December.  

Christmas at Dublin Castle is a free event for all the family to enjoy

The medieval courtyards of Dublin Castle will be turned into a Christmas wonderland for Christmas at the Castle. There will be more than 30 Alpine-style market stalls. Dublin Castle and its courtyards will be decorated with lights, illuminations, Christmas trees and festive bunting.   

There will be a magical feel in the air with sounds of music by the Dublin Gospel Choir, New Dublin Voices, Playlist, Crux Vocal Ensemble and others.

The aroma of mouth-watering foods to try will include vendors such as Griolladh, Los Chicanos, Handsome Burger, The Smoken Grillhouse, Chocallure, Sweet Churro, The Crepe Box, Nutty Delights and lots more, so bring your appetite.    

The boutique stalls will feature an array of decorative crafts and inspiring gift ideas. The artisan producers will include Michele Hannan Ceramics, Inna Design handmade jewellery, Precious Amber healing gemstone jewellery.  

Also showing at Christmas at the Castle is The Wildbird Studio handmade Christmas decorations, Alphabet Jigsaws, wooden puzzles for children, Wacky Clothing with designer clothes for children. There will also be a traditional carousel for the children and a crib.  

Designers showing beautiful gifts to buy

On the weekends of 10-12 and 17-19 December there will be a special market by the finest quality Irish designers. They will include George Horn glove makers, Sian Jacobs with luxury cashmere knitwear and Emma Higgins with contemporary art prints. 

Also showing their crafts will be Clover Woodcraft with sustainable gifts, Living Art Photography with beautiful prints from the Irish landscape, Tonnstore with organic hand-drawn garments. In all there will the 15 designers showing their works.

 

With over 1,000 years of history in Dublin Castle and plenty of festive food, crafts, music and entertainment – there will be something for everyone to enjoy this festive season. The State Apartments will also be open free to visitors. 
 
Christmas at the Castle will run from 8 – 21 December from 2 – 9.30pm every day. Tickets are free and must be booked in advance here.
