With more than 80 acts appearing, the annual Galway Comedy Festival is now ranked as the largest comedy shindig within the EU, a record likely to remain intact for the foreseeable future – or until such time as Scotland votes in favour of independence, and it is dwarfed by the behemoth that is the Edinburgh Festival.
Galway, this year, features a mix of the international and local; with a fair smattering of legendary Irish acts – including Dylan Moran, Ardal O’Hanlon, Deirdre O’Kane, Kevin McAleer, Jimeoin, Joe Rooney, Kevin Gildea and Tommy Tiernan.
If you miss this…there’s another chance to have a laugh – on the other side of the country – when the inaugural Dún Laoghaire Comedy Festival kicks off next month (see here for our preview of that event: Havin’ a Laugh! – Star-studded Dún Laoghaire Comedy Festival Debuts Next Month | Travel 2 Ireland)
