Culture Night 2021 takes place on 17 September. Here’s what’s happening in Ulster throughout the night:
Derry
Drawing with Sound at Void Gallery
A sound and drawing workshop inspired by the Turkish artist Cevdet Erek and led by Zoe McSparron. Translate sound to artwork as the gallery floor becomes a giant sketchpad, using a variety of drawing and movement exercises and tools including charcoal, paint, crayons, markers.

Painting Class with Rozalia Degerne
Hungarian artist Rozalia Degerne teaches a class on oil and acrylic painting at The Alley Theatre in line with her newest exhibition, sharing the inspiration behind her seascape paintings. Participants are required to bring their own painting materials.

Knitting on the Walls
Designer Edel Mac Bride will deliver this visually engaging knitting event from Derry’s historical city walls, celebrating Ulster’s rich culture through yarn crafts. This event is open to audiences of all ages.

Quadraphonica by Rayon Vert and The Fully Automatic Model
An improvised electronic piece, brought to you in quadraphonic sound, via two musicians and an array of ever-evolving technologies and instrumentation. The performance is a collaboration between Jonny Delaney (The Fully Automatic Model) and Rory Donaghy (Rayon Vert).

Monaghan
A Night at the Drive-In
Have a movie night out from the comfort of your own car. There will be two films screened throughout the night – one for kids and one for adults – in Clones Credit Union carpark. Screenings: Honey I Shrunk the Kids – 7pm, American Graffiti – 9.30pm.

Kavanagh’s Poetry Dukebox
The Patrick Kavanagh centre hosts a celebration of community and the spoken word, with contributions from a selection of contemporary poets and performers. This event has been organised in anticipation of the launch of a Poetry Jukebox, to be installed in September along the River Fane as part of the Kavanagh trail in Inniskeen.
