Mayo
Maneuver
Mayo has plenty to see and do from the sacred pilgrimage site of Croagh Patrick, where St. Patrick is said to have fasted for 40 days, to the cliffs and beaches of Achill Island. You can cycle the Great Western Greenway, one of Ireland’s most attractive cycling routes, while history lovers can visit Ballintubber Abbey, which has been in continuous use for over 800 years. Mayo’s festival scene is equally impressive, with the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival drawing music lovers every June and the Ballina Salmon Festival celebrating the county’s fishing heritage with lively events every July.
